Sittong is a cluster of small hill villages in the Kurseong hills, home to many Lepcha families, spread along the Riyang river valley. Almost every home has orange trees, and from November to January the slopes turn orange with ripe fruit — which is why Bengal knows it simply as the "orange village". There are no hotels here, only family-run homestays, no shared jeeps to the villages, and the last few kilometres are steep. A pre-booked private cab is the easiest way to get there.
Your driver picks the road on the day based on weather and road work — when NH10 is closed or slow at Sevoke, the Kurseong road is used. For the steep final stretch into the villages, we recommend an SUV, especially in the monsoon.
Hill fares change with the season, so we publish every season's fare here before you book. The fare is the same from NJP, Siliguri and Bagdogra Airport. Once you book, your quote is locked.

An SUV is recommended. The final stretch into some Sittong villages is steep and rough, especially in the monsoon. A hatchback or sedan can manage some homestays in dry weather — tell us your homestay and we will advise honestly.
There is no regular direct shared service into the Sittong villages. Shared jeeps run between the main towns, so you would have to change vehicles and still find local transport for the last stretch. A private cab is the practical option.
November to January is orange season, the most popular time. October–November and March–May are best for clear mountain views. In the monsoon (June–September) the area is lush but roads are slippery.
Yes. On the Rambi–Mungpoo road you pass Mungpoo, where Rabindranath Tagore's house is now a museum, before crossing the Riyang at the Jogighat bridge into Sittong. Mention it at booking.
Yes. Sittong is about 35 km from Darjeeling — roughly 1 hour 45 minutes via Hill Cart Road and the Bagora road. WhatsApp EasyGoCab your Darjeeling hotel and Sittong homestay for a quote.
